Thanks for posting the video showing how to build the Slurm and dependency packages for EL6. I'm surprised that the RPMs aren't in EPEL or an official LLNL repo.
I'm sure you know this, but for others who don't, it's generally not good practice to build / compile code as root: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/How_to_create_an_RPM_package
